The Republic of Cyprus has taken another step forward in strengthening its position as a hub for international business and innovation. According to a recent announcement by the Minister of Interior, Constantinos Ioannou, 208 foreign nationals have successfully acquired Cypriot citizenship under the high-skilled employment category, a fast-track naturalization route designed to attract top talent to the island.
This development follows the 2023 and 2024 amendments to the Civil Registry Law, introducing Article 111B(2), which enables qualified professionals employed in high-skilled companies to apply for citizenship after meeting specific residency and employment requirements.
This scheme is increasingly popular as additional 360 applications are currently under examination by the Ministry of Interior, reflecting the growing appeal of Cyprus as a career and lifestyle destination for international executives.
While company-specific data on these naturalizations is not disclosed applications are recorded under legislative provisions rather than linked to specific employers the Ministry confirmed that 65 family members of eligible professionals have also acquired Cypriot citizenship through this scheme.
