Companies & Funds

The Ministry of Finance has announced plans to simplify the registration process for Alternative Investment Companies (ASI). A new regulation aims to make it easier for smaller private equity and VC funds to enter the market. The simplification is intended to apply, among other things, to documentation and formal requirements, aiming to encourage the creation of new entities on the market.

Labour Law

As of June 15, new remote work rules apply. Employers must now compensate employees for electricity and internet costs, even in hybrid work models.

This means that if an employee uses their own equipment (e.g. laptop, phone) for remote work, the employer is required to cover the costs of electricity consumption and internet access. The amount of the reimbursement should be agreed upon between the employee and the employer.

E-commerce

The Polish Competition Authority (UOKiK) has urged major online marketplaces to better label professional sellers. The goal is to protect consumers from businesses disguising themselves as private individuals to prevent fraud and unfair practices.

Digital Currency

The National Bank of Poland has completed the first phase of testing its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Further analysis is underway to assess its impact on the retail sector and financial stability.

For consumers, the e-złoty could offer new, convenient, and secure forms of payment, while banks and other financial institutions would need to adapt to this new form of money, which could involve costs and changes in market structure.
